Diabetes Series Plan B — High-Fibre Anti-Spike Indian Diet · Insulin Resistance & Pre-Diabetes
Language:
Calories:
Daily Fibre Goal: ≥ 35g soluble + insoluble fibre High dietary fibre reduces HbA1c by 0.5–1.2% and postprandial glucose by up to 30% · ADA 2024 Guidelines
⚕ Protocol: Select ONE option per meal. This plan prioritises soluble fibre (blunts glucose absorption) and resistant starch (feeds beneficial gut bacteria). Eat vegetables BEFORE grain portions at every meal.  |  Hydration: Minimum 3 litres water daily. Fibre requires adequate hydration to function. Insufficient water with high-fibre diet causes constipation.  |  Transition: Increase fibre gradually over 2 weeks to avoid GI discomfort. Begin at 20g/day and increase by 5g each week until target is reached.

Extended Medical Disclaimer — Read Before Use

This nutritional protocol is strictly for educational and general guidance purposes. It is not a prescription, medical diagnosis, or treatment plan. Use of this plan without consultation with a qualified endocrinologist, physician, or registered dietitian who has assessed your individual medical profile, medications, and recent investigations is contraindicated.

Pre-Diabetes Classification This plan targets pre-diabetic and insulin-resistant individuals. However, the boundaries between pre-diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, and normal glycaemia require laboratory confirmation (HbA1c, OGTT, fasting plasma glucose). Do not self-classify.
Drug-Nutrient Interactions Karela, psyllium, flaxseed, and amla can lower blood glucose. In combination with Metformin, glipizide, glibenclamide, or insulin, additive hypoglycaemia is possible. Disclose all dietary additions to your physician.
Gastrointestinal Concerns Rapid increases in dietary fibre can cause bloating, flatulence, cramping, and altered bowel habits. Patients with IBS, IBD, bowel stricture, or recent abdominal surgery must consult a gastroenterologist before increasing fibre intake significantly.
Caloric Adequacy Individuals with high physical activity, low body weight, or malnutrition risk must ensure caloric adequacy. Restriction below metabolic needs combined with glycaemic-lowering medication constitutes a clinical risk.
Diabetes in Pregnancy This plan is NOT suitable for gestational diabetes. Pregnant women with any form of diabetes must work exclusively with a maternal-fetal medicine specialist and registered dietitian.
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR Before commencing this or any medical nutrition protocol, regardless of whether you are currently medicated, consult a licensed healthcare professional. This plan is educational only and does not replace personalised medical care.

Hypoglycaemia Response: Any episode of shakiness, sweating, confusion, palpitation, or extreme hunger requires immediate intake of 15g fast-acting glucose. Seek medical attention. Do not delay in favour of continuing dietary adherence.
