Heel raises beat stretching

For calf and shin complaints, progressive loading outperforms stretching for both pain and return to activity.

Bone adapts, slowly

Bone remodels over months. It gets temporarily weaker before it gets stronger, which is why load rises in small steps.

Tennis leg is a muscle tear

A sudden sharp pain in the inner calf with a pop is usually a tear of the medial gastrocnemius, not the Achilles.

Three couplets · two rounds · twelve minutes · legs that take the miles

Each couplet: 60 s scored → the loading set → 10 s to move on. Done at 12:00.

How to run it

  1. Straight knee loads the gastrocnemius, bent knee loads the soleus. Both, every week.
  2. The soleus is the one that carries running. It is trained with the knee bent and it is trained heavy.
  3. Three seconds up, one at the top, three seconds down. Count only full-range reps.
  4. Cramp means the muscle is working at a load it is not used to. Shake it out, drop a level, carry on.
